During a presentation in Italy today, Yamaha announced that it has reached a two-year agreement with Fiat to become title sponsor of the Yamaha Factory Racing Team in the MotoGP World Championship.

“We’re very excited about our new two-year partnership with Fiat,” said Lin Jarvis, Managing Director of Yamaha Motor Racing. “Fiat, like Yamaha, is a truly global brand and we feel that there is a great match between our two companies. It’s good for our sport to welcome a new sponsor of Fiat’s calibre and we feel sure that they will enjoy their involvement with our team. We look forward to working with them over the coming two seasons and hopefully sharing many victories together.”

Fiat Yamaha Team Director Davide Brivio added “It’s nice to be able to finally unveil our new livery and our new sponsorship with Fiat. It’s a new start for us – a new bike, a new sponsor and a new challenge as we try to win back the title! It’s been a long pre-season for us but we’re finally ready for the first race this week; let’s hope we can mark our first outing in Fiat Yamaha Team colours in victorious style!”

“Since its introduction, the Yamaha R125 has been extremely successful amongst young motorcyclists across Europe”, Renzo Moscou said.
“With so many Fiat Yamaha Team fans out there, we are pleased to now introduce the new R125 Yamaha Team Race Replica and give them the opportunity to ride one of our most popular products in MotoGP Style.”

2009 YZF-R125-Fiat Yamaha Race Replica-03With bodywork designed by R1 designer, Kazumasa Sasanami the R125 has looks that rival the bigger R1 and R6. This isn’t a miniature sportsbike though; based on a full-size chassis, the R125 has road presence to match R1 or R6. And that bigger frame makes it suitable for taller and older riders.

Now available featuring official Team Yamaha graphics inspired by MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi, the YZF-R125 Team Yamaha Race Replica is a thoroughbred 125cc sportsbike.

Born from the supersport DNA of the R1 and R6, the YZF-R125 has R-series style and attitude. Its free-revving, liquid-cooled 4-stroke single cylinder SOHC engine is fuel injected for near-instant throttle response, while a 6-speed gearbox harnesses the power for optimum acceleration and top speed. 17-inch tyres on lightweight 10-spoke wheels provide solid grip through the corners, while large diameter 292mm front disc and 230mm rear disc brakes bring the bike to a confident and stable stop.

With a low drag cowling, twin headlights and a slim tail with LED rear lights, everything about the R125's design says sports performance. Add those distinctive Team Yamaha graphics and it could be mistaken for a Yamaha MotoGP racer.

Beneath the bodywork, a lightweight Deltabox frame combined with a cast aluminium swinging-arm delivers class-leading handling. The mid-ship exhaust muffler – a feature the R125 shares with the larger R6 – adds to the R125's sporty look. And, because it’s full-sized, the R125 provides a comfortable riding position – even for the tallest riders.

Combining an eager 125cc engine, a race-style chassis and striking R-series bodywork in official Team Yamaha livery – the YZF-R125 is the perfect introduction to supersport riding.
